How An HID Access Card Can Make A Crook’s Life Miserable
What kind of company needs HID access card technology? The answer to this question should not come as a surprise. Basically, any organization that wishes to stay in business will be upgrading their ID card security as we speak if they have not done so already. Even without gazing through the pages of financial newspapers, it will be obvious to anyone with the gift of rational thought that businesses are sinking fast due to a host of poor decisions by themselves, banks and the government. This means the security budget dwindles along with the profit margin but it is foolish, dangerous and unnecessary to make ID card technology part of the cutting process.
There are still a number of businesses that equate HID cards with expense since they still require security companies to print out their ID cards. Yet using a Fargo Printer would save them a fortune. A printer is a onetime expense when you think about it with most machines offering an absolute minimum guarantee of two years. The printer should always come with software which is also covered by the guarantee. This means all you need to purchase to ensure your security remains intact is ID cards. Even a certain number of these come with the printer. So much for being expensive! The fact is, over a number of years, owning your own printer means an enormous saving compared to outsourcing.
This should be of course, a moot point since a company without security is dead in the water anyway. If your employees don’t need an HID access card to gain entry to certain parts of the building, you may as well place a giant neon sign outside the building advertising your lack of security to would-be thieves. Rest assured, it will not take them long to find out by themselves. With no HID card to bother them, crooks can simply print their photo on a company ID card using a Fargo printer or whatever machinery your company uses and walk around the building untouched.
With an HID access card, this is impossible as these cards have microchips imbedded in them, meaning that forgery of these cards is something beyond virtually all thieves. The cards must be presented to the card reader at certain access points. Once the card is placed in the reader, it will immediately process the information and if it does not match the criteria required to pass, a red light will appear and access will be denied. This means outsiders cannot even get into the building and employees will be unable to venture anywhere other than where their credentials allows them. Best of all, when the card is used, the time and identity of the individual is recorded which helps keep tabs on them.
It is hard to imagine any company surviving without HID access card technology in the modern world with so many criminals out there waiting to pounce on any breach in security. When faced with an HID card system however, they despair because there is nothing they can do to get past the barriers.
